Printed Bases

For all our miniatures in 28mm scale range, they can be printed either with bases, or without. While they both have pros and cons, its generally down to personnel preference. 15mm scale miniatures are only supplied on bases.

The image either side of this text shows the difference. While the pre-based miniatures can stand on a flat surface, they will still require a more traditional base - such as the rank and file square base, or circular skirmish base, otherwise they will fall down everytime the gaming table is knocked.

It should also be noted that miniatures are not supplied with any other bases. This is down to it not being cost effective for printing bases.

The Ranges of Scales

Our Napolionic range comes in two scale ranges. 28mm scale, which is one of the more common scale used for tabletop wargaming, normally used for ‘Skirmish’ type games, that invloves a small force of usually 20-30 minatures - or two or three units plus a leader / character. In skirmish games, individual miniatures can represent a single person on the battlefield, but sometimes a single miniature, esspecially within a unit, can be a reprisentation of about 5 men.

15mm scale is much smaller, and normally has a group of miniatures per base, and is normally used for large scale battles where the player controls vast armies of multiple types of units. Unlike 28mm where a individual man within a unit can represent up to 5 in real life, 15mm is closer to one miniature on a base to two men in real life. You would have to drop a scale to 6mm if you wanted true one to one.

All scales measured in milimeters (mm) is the measurement from foot to eye of the minature. Where as if something was 1/72, that means that 1 inch represents 72 inches or 6 feet in real life. A 28mm miniature is roughly 1/60 to 1/64 scale.
